The Lord’s Day

Understanding the Prophecy

The phrase “the Lord’s Day” is often assumed to refer to Sunday—but Scripture itself never makes that claim. Instead, the Bible identifies a specific day that belongs to the Lord: the Sabbath.

In Mark 2, Yeshua makes a defining statement: “The Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath.” This is not a casual remark—it is a direct declaration of authority. If He is Lord of the Sabbath, then the Sabbath is His day.

This teaching addresses a common misunderstanding. The issue in Yeshua’s time was never whether the Sabbath should be kept—it was how it should be kept. The religious leaders had turned it into a burden, elevating rules above people. Yeshua corrected this by showing that the Sabbath was created for the benefit of humanity, not as a rigid system of control.

Going back to creation, the Sabbath was established before there was any distinction between Jew and Gentile. It was given to all mankind. Yeshua, as Creator, is therefore the rightful Lord of that day.

The shift to Sunday is not found in Scripture—it is a later development. Understanding this helps clarify one of the key issues that will resurface in the last days: worship, authority, and obedience to God’s commandments.

Timeline Connection

This teaching connects to the broader end-time issue of worship and authority. As the final crisis unfolds, the question of which day belongs to the Lord—and who has authority to define it—will become central. The Sabbath stands as a sign of loyalty to the Creator in contrast to man-made systems.
