Understanding the Festivals

The biblical festivals are far more than ancient traditions. They form a prophetic calendar that reveals the plan of redemption from the foundation of the world.

In this five-part teaching series, Tom Stapleton walks through the typology of the biblical feasts and explains how these appointed times point directly to the mission of Yeshua the Messiah.

From Passover to the fall festivals, the feasts reveal a remarkable pattern showing how God laid out His plan of salvation long before the events of the New Testament.

Why the Biblical Feasts Matter

Many people view the feasts simply as Jewish holidays or Old Testament rituals.

But Scripture describes them as “the feasts of the Lord” (Leviticus 23), showing that they belong to God and reveal His purposes for humanity.

Understanding the typology of these festivals helps us see:

  • How Passover foreshadowed the sacrifice of Messiah, and points to the Second Coming
  • Why Unleavened Bread represents the removal of sin, and a sinless eternity
  • How Firstfruits points to the resurrection of the saved
  • How the Day of Atonement represents both the final judgment before the Second Coming, and the Great White Throne judgment at the end of the millennium
  • How God embedded prophecy into the biblical calendar, and the calendar cannot be correctly understood without the festival typology.

When the patterns of the feasts are studied carefully, they reveal the unity of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation.

The festivals are key to understanding the timing of the First Coming, end time dates on Daniel and Revelation’s prophecies of judgment, the Second Coming, the end of the millennium, and eternity.
