Saints Risen with Yeshua: Understanding the Firstfruits Resurrection

In Matthew 27, we are given a brief but powerful statement: “Many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised… and coming out of the graves after His resurrection…”

This raises an important question: What happened to those who were raised with Yeshua?

Were they:

  • Simply restored to life like Lazarus?
  • Left to live out their lives on earth?
  • Or did they fulfill a deeper prophetic role?

This teaching explores the possibility that these resurrected saints were not random—but were directly connected to the Feast of Firstfruits, forming part of a prophetic fulfillment tied to the sanctuary system.

Prophetic Insights

🔹 They Were Raised After His Resurrection

Scripture makes a critical distinction:

  • The graves were opened at His death
  • But the saints came out after His resurrection

This matters because:

👉 Yeshua declared Himself to be “the resurrection and the life”

Their resurrection was dependent on His.

🔹 Firstfruits Is the Key to Understanding

Yeshua rose on the Feast of Firstfruits. But Firstfruits was never just about one sheaf—it represented:

  • The beginning of a harvest
  • Proof that more would follow

This teaching shows that Yeshua did not rise alone. He produced fruit from His resurrection. These saints can be understood as part of that firstfruits offering.

🔹 The Sanctuary Pattern Must Be Fulfilled

In the earthly sanctuary, the priest presented a wave sheaf before the Lord. This marked the beginning of the harvest

But Hebrews tells us that the true sanctuary is in heaven

This raises the possibility: Were these resurrected saints part of a heavenly presentation?

Scripture does not state this directly—but the pattern strongly suggests a fulfillment beyond the earthly scene.

🔹 No Record of Them Remaining on Earth

Unlike Lazarus, the widow’s son, and Dorcas, there is: no biblical record of these saints returning to normal life.

This silence is significant and suggests that their role may have been different

🔹 Scripture Has Patterns—And Exceptions

We are told: “It is appointed for men to die once…”

Yet Scripture clearly shows exceptions:

  • Lazarus
  • Others raised by Yeshua

This teaching highlights:

👉 God establishes patterns
👉 But He also acts outside of them for specific purposes

🔹 A Greater Harvest Is Still Coming

The Firstfruits offering points forward. These saints represent the beginning, with a promise of the full harvest coming later. This aligns with the final resurrection at Yeshua’s return.

Timeline Connection

This event is directly tied to prophetic fulfillment:

  • Yeshua fulfills Passover (sacrifice)
  • Yeshua fulfills Firstfruits (resurrection)
  • The raised saints point to the coming harvest – the resurrection at the Second Coming.

Understanding this helps connect the full prophetic timeline, the feasts, and the sanctuary.
