Festival Typology: First Month Feasts | Passover, Unleavened Bread & Firstfruits
Understanding the Prophecy
This study explores the typology of the first-month feasts—Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits—and how they form a prophetic pattern that extends beyond the first coming of Messiah into future end-time fulfillment.
Rather than assuming these feasts were completely fulfilled at the cross, this teaching examines Scripture to determine whether they still point forward to the final deliverance of God’s people.
Key foundational idea: The feasts are not just memorials of past events. Instead, they are prophetic rehearsals that reveal God’s timeline. Major events in Scripture consistently occur on appointed times.
Prophetic Framework of the First Month Feasts
- Passover – Always Points to Deliverance Through the Lamb. In Egypt, it was deliverance from slavery. At the cross, it was the Messiah giving us deliverance from our sins. When He returns, it will be our final deliverance from this world. Yeshua Himself said the Passover is not yet fully fulfilled: “I will not eat of it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” “I will drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
- Unleavened Bread – Complete Separation from Sin. This 7-day period represents a total removal of sin. This points to a future reality where believers are not only forgiven, but are permanently removed from the very presence of sin.
- Firstfruits – Resurrection and Harvest. Yeshua became our Firstfruits when He rose from the dead, and others were raised with Him. Firstfruits points toward a coming larger harvest. 1 Corinthians 15 links Messiah’s resurrection to the future resurrection of believers.
